Family Day at Yishun Safra

Presenting to you.... the nearly completed masterpiece that i have working on for the past 2 weeks =) *insert clapping hands* still have a bit of touch up work to do though...

As some of you may know, i am tasked to come up with a game stall for our divison's family day event at yishun safra this coming sunday, 4th nov 2007... =P Have cracked my brain over the initial plan : to have 3 different sizes of basketball hoops attached to a board; plan was abandoned in the end as there are many problems... e.g. difficulty of getting 3 sizes of hoops, mounting the hoops to the board, making the board stand or hang etc. Plan is then modified and here's what i have... hahahaha

1. How to play: Each player is given 3 balls (errhh... to save money, we use newspaper to crash into ball and masking tape to hold it together... hahaha.. tight budget to work with you know... haha). Ball has to go through the hole to win a prize. You will get a better prize if the ball goes through the hole with a crown or medal.

Simple game right??!!?? hahaha... i seriously dont think so lor. was playing the game in the office during lunch hour and i only managed to strike once (after like almost 5 throws.. faint!!)

2. This is actually a competition. Stall with the most no of game stickers and the best design will win something... what's the chance of winning?? hahaha... 50-50 bah

Need to be in office on sat morning to load the boards and boxes (for the base and stand) to the lorry and be at yishun safra in the afternoon to set up everything... pray that it doesnt rain lah... else my boards may be damaged...

Sun is the actual family day event. I am able to get 3 extra tickets, anyone interested to go? You will get a free goodie bag, lunch set & game stickers (pls support my game stall k). On top of these freebies, you can bowl, sing ktv, play air rifle, do sport climbing, do canopy walk, etc for FREE!!.. must queue of course lah... hahaha... i have managed to secure a bowl lane at 9am and a ktv room at 3pm....

downside is that i need to do registration duty (i.e welcome ppl, pass goodie bag, tear out lucky draw coupon, etc) from 8.30am to 11.30am... yes, no choice... =( i suppose i can make my escape secretly bah... hahaha.. then got to check out my game stall to ensure everything is running smoothly... have lunch.... go for air rifle shooting competition... then after all these stuff, should be free to meet up with you all...

how?? anyone keen?? i know it's a bit the far, but hey!! you get good stuff k... hahaha... and since yishun safra is still open to the public, you can just walk in without the ticket lor.. hahahaha... the more the merrier...

Still working. Sighz. Count me in on sunday. I'm very impressed by the 2 boards. They look really great. I suggest getting some traash bags/ large plastic sheets to cover ur boards after u set them up. Trash bags are very water proof and will protect the precious boards against the rain.

Hey Aihua...I must commend u all for your wonderful artwork!!!...entices mi to play the game, just by looking at the design..maybe next time I consult u on handicraft and such...hm...

I am keen to go to..as mentioned previously. Luckily I got straight bus from my side...but still far..think there shd be some tentage to cover the stalls. unless no budget for tt..

Yup I agree with Andrew abt ur boards. For a moment I thot they were computer graphics until I realise they're actual pics of ur boards. The words are nicely done up, esp the ones on the right with the shadows.

And the small holes are impossible to get in lah! But the bigger holes are quite ok, considering my performance at the Seiransai games stall the other time. :p

And I'm coming too, so near my house I don't go quite a pity rite? I wanna go the ktv rm and bowling!

miss emi cant go cos she has 2 tuition kids with their exam papers waiting. =(

hua, even i am pleased with ur end product (given my standards, it is a high compliment... wahahahhaha). all the late nights are worth it. *pat on ur shoulder*

yes, trash bag is a must. u never know how careless logistic people are. rem to make the ball dense and solid. then it can last thruout the day also.

have fun and good luck!

hahaha.. thanks to all for your compliments =)

yah, good idea on the trash bags... never think of it yet... hahaha... will get some trash bags to cover up the boards before loading them to the truck on sat then...

aniwae, still have a bit of work to go... need to attach plastic bags to the back of each hole as well, so that the balls would 'slide' down and be collected via the box underneath... hahaha.. make our need-to-collect-balls job easier as well =P

hmm... ball wont be really dense and solid lah... hahaha.. make from newspaper lor, so dont expect much... hahaha... am targeting to make 150 balls by tonight... =P

Wah.... Jiayou wor, 150 balls target. :p

yeah!! had set up the game in the office for staff to try playing during their free time... hahaha.. =) game is fun lah.. hahahaha

got to increase the no of balls given per try to 5... cos it's really difficult to throw through the holes for the special prize... hahaha...

now i can strike the item out of my to-do list... need to crack head over the attire now... hahaha..

am super tired now... just got home, waiting for bathroom to shower and then sleep early... need to wake up at 5.30am as i need to reach yishun safra by 7.30am to set up the stall

very angry with the organiser lah... asked us to go down from 2pm to 6pm to set up the stall.. then guess what?? the tentage is not even set up at 6pm lor... waited there for the whole afternoon for nothing... !@#$%^&*

and seriously, i think my game stall is really nothing compared to the rest... hahahaha... saw one stall that has a REALLY BEAUTIFUL backdrop and an VERY COOL game concept... stall is called jungle something, those going can go see; it's near the tennis court... easy to set up, fun to play, thumbs up for that stall...

tml just have to make sure that my stall is not the worst can liao... hahaha...

Hey Aihua...thx for inviting us along..I really enjoyed myself. even though it was a hot day. Didn't know that one dept in UOB is so large. Also, it must be the first time I attended a fren's company and an MNC's family day. I guess there were lots to do, just little time to try everything. The games were unexpectedly interesting. Definitely, won't lose to Seiransai.

errhhh... not 1 department... where got 1 department so many ppl one?? hahahaha

family day is for our operations sector. there's 11 divisions and my division has 4 departments. if i am not wrong, our division is the 2nd or 3rd biggest after branches division (i.e. all the branches around the island)... hahaha..

if you are keen to know more about my company, go google it =)

Google is my homepage as well. Are we doing advertorials for them here? Hahaha...

Google used to be my homepage, then a few years ago, I changed it to CNN.com to keep up to date about the happenings in the world. I frequent sports, world, IT, science and others. We do not subscribe to newspaper at home unfortunately, and reading papers in the workplace is insufficient. Sometimes I do not get to watch the news on tv as well. However, recently, I changed my homepage to ChannelNewAsia.com as singapore news are featured in there as well. CNN.com featueres too much USA stuff.

At times there are interesting topics or coverages presented as well. As for google, I do have my google bar, so using google as the homepage is unnecessary. When google was my homepage, I always spent time looking for stuff I don't really need. Think of new keywords to search for, etc. So I don't really want to do that.
