My next holiday trip??!??

was watching channel U - The King of Adventure just now and this place is simply awesome!! it's THE place that i have been wanting to go... rem i went to Chamonix (France) in 2003 and up Aguille du Midi? i promise to myself that i would be back to trek/ski on the glaciers one day... when i saw Patagonia (Argentina), i know it!! this is the very place to go!! cos i can do ALL the activites that i have always wanted to do in one place..

oh my gosh!! i better start saving up now... the travel bug has bit me!! hahaha... and here's what i would do if i will to go there... hahaha... yesh i know, it's a bit the early to research on this holiday trip... hahaha..

1. Up close view of Perito Moreno Glacier + Trekking
When i hear that this is one of the advancing glaciers in the world, i am very surprised... i mean arent the glaciers melting and whatnot? how can it advanced?? weird!!

2. Husky Dog-Sledding at Ushuaia
So exciting right?? hahaha.. initially wanted to go Alaska for this activity, and since Argentina has it, i should do it there... the husky puppies are really adorable!!

3. Devil's Throat, Iguazu Falls
This is one of the falls which i have shortlisted as my must-see list since zillion years ago and i have to see it!!

omg!! i was watching the show too! despite the late hours and possibly not waking up on time the next day (true enuff).

i really like the husky training portion. HA is left or right? haha.

well, u fly all the way there then u'll have to visit more places than that right? it'll cost u an arm and a leg!

hmm, i read that glaciers are not simply affected by temperatures only. whole lot of ratio comes in upon further reading. isnt mother earth amazing? rising worldwide temperatures but some parts became colder than usual.

interesting..why is it that glaciers are present in south America? Probably just the southern tip. Anw Argentina is a poor country..I always tot it was a hot country..remembered watching south american dramas about slavery when i was younger..

Ok, we'll go during my intern year when I have leave and money! I think I have 4 weeks leave then, but they may dictate when I can take it. If so then perhaps some time in my RMO year when things will be a little more flexible. We can maybe go to Machu Picchu too, and perhaps a tour of the Andes.

Daniel,

Argentina isn't that poor. It's per capita GDP is about the same as South Korea or Taiwan. And it certainly isn't hot! You're thinking more equatorial South America that's hot. There are actually glaciers all along the Andes which are really pretty high.

i must have been mistaken. Remembered reading a news article sm few years ago, about poor argentinians having to pick up soccer to seek a better life. Prob the report referred to another latin america country.

i nv watched "don't cry for me argentina" b4. It was sm latin america or portuguese drama or smthg abt slavery. I don't remember much about it, except for this guy wif a moustache who treats the slaves badly. It was dubbed in chinese i think.

It seems I had watched alot of shows when I was young. Not many ppl (my age or ynger) ard mi know or remember any of the shows tt I mention. Eg, Golden Years, Ah Xin (abt a jap girl working in a soy sauce factory), an sbs drama abt pirates (think called bi4 si4 hai3), Mind your language...etc etc..I used to watch Get Smart, Sunken Jap, Hulk, batman, Speed Racer, WallE too..seems it is common to catch remakes of old classics nowadays.

Well, the per capita income is pretty high but there is a rather large disparity between the rich and poor. Lots of Nazis and Nazi sympathizers escaped to Argentina and other Latin American countries after the Second World War and they took alot of the looted Jewish money and art with them.

Andrew,

There are actually lots of small waterfalls along the valleys. If you took the train to Junfraujoch and got off at Grindelwald and walked towards Brienz, you would see a water fall coming off the sheer stone cliffs every few hundred meters or so.
