Mr Goh occupied with reading his papers and magazine...

... while I took photos of the land, water, clouds and misc...
View of Singapore from air.

Food was served and was pretty yummy...

The journey time took approximately 1.5hrs and viola, we arrived at our destination! Sunny day with breeze; good start. We hopped onto a cab, paid 12RM and got to our resort in less than 5mins. Yesh, 5mins. Just straight down the road, turn right and it's our resort. I cant believe myself lor! Could have saved that 12RM had I knew that our resort is so freaking near the airport.... hahaha...

Nice and quiet resort. Nice and big room with balcony, bathroom, aircon and tv (with limited tv channels though...) Good start again. Wrong!
Spent the first night with absolutely little amount of sleep... Woke up at 2am, 3am, 5am and finally 7am, scratching myself silly all the while. Argh, we thought it's the mosquitoes... BUT! there wasnt any buzzing noise and we had placed mosquito patches (luckily mr goh brought some along!) already. Super irritating lah!! I just sat on the bed and was very determined to kill any mosquito in my vicinity... until I caught sight of a small bug walking towards me...

Ah, this must be the culprit!!! Bed bug!! (Erh, both of us havent seen one before, so we assumed it's bed bug... hahaha) Pleased with the discovery, we promptly took the above photo as evidence... We were wondering how in the world can such a tiny insect bites me so many times when a BIGGER bed bug came along... and it dawned upon us that THAT was the culprit! And it's not ALONE! Argghhhh...

To cut the bed bug story short, we killed 5 bed bugs, called room service to demand for a room change, went for breakfast, packed our bags, transferred to new room, killed 20++ mosquitoes in the new room (yesh, i will come to the mosquito story later), nap for 3hours (to make up for lost sleep) and cabbed down to Kuah Town for lunch, shopping and mopiko/insect repellent.
There's nothing much to see in Kuah Town itself... and since it is off peak season now, the town is very very quiet. Boring, so no photo. We grabbed mopiko, insect repellent, chocolate, biscuits and beer, and returned to resort.
Our resort has its own beach (pretty cool!)... with only a few guests around, we had the beach pretty much to ourselves. Nice.

Back to the mosquito story. We had dinner and returned to new room to find lotsa mosquitoes buzzing around. Had closed the balcony/ washroom doors and left the aircon on lor... really question mark - where did these mosquitoes come from?? So, we started a 'killing' spree: Mr Goh hit any mosquito in sight (a record number of 30 plus dead mosquitoes within 30mins) while i sprayed the room (plus mosquito if i happen to see any) with insect repellent. This worked initially and after like 15mins, more mosquitoes APPEARED. Argh!! Tired and frustrated, we call in room service to spray the whole room with pesticide.
Their pesticide was really effective! Within 15min, ALL the mosquitoes were dead (both of us almost died too lah, cos we remained in the room as well... i refuse to offer my blood to the mosquitoes living in the corridor).
At last, a good night sleep with NO bed bug and mosquito! But the bed bugs' bites still itch though, sian...

Anyway, as Thursday was a super hot day!!, no sightseeing was done and we just hid ourselves in the comfort of aircon room, watched CNN (the only english tv channel available...) and nursed my bites (ps: have i mentioned that mr goh didnt had ANY bite at all?? the bed bugs must be all male!! argh, poor me!). The only time we left the room was for breakfast, lunch, dinner and pool table... hahaha...

Checked out on Friday, walked to the airport under the hot afternoon sun (oh well, we hadnt really explored langkawi much you see... hahaha...), boarded the plane, home sweet home!

Not many photos to share really... I just "love" langkawi; the most memorable part of this trip are... bed bugs and mosquitoes. YUCK!

erm, u really cannot make it as langkawi's tourist ambassador ya. all complaints.. haha. why no nice pictures of wherever u all visited/ watever u all did?
ang moh has red hair ah? ang mao ang mao. =P
and the picture of the bed bug gave me the creeps. i think u two learnt a lot from the experience. next time, can be our bug expert during holidays...
Erh, no nice photo lei... cos we didnt do ANY sightseeing at all... and if you count visiting Kuah Town as one, then oops, i didnt take any photo of the town cos it's just a sleepy/boring place... nothing interesting...
i took quite a few photos of the food that we ate though... but thought i shouldnt bore you folks with them... hahaha...
and since going to langkawi is to enjoy the beach, i just post the nice beach photo =P
i think the ang mao uncle is white hair, hahaha...
next time must rem to bring mopiko, insect repellent and mosquito patches if you are going to beach!!
and i think there's nothing you can do abt bed bugs... just hope that your bed is bug free!
Haha that is confirmed a bed bug, cos me, Dan, and Siew Yean experienced it first-hand in Bangkok as well.
Oh man, mosquitoes and bedbugs, my most hated insects. When u recited the mosquito part of the story, a chill went down my back. Cos all these scenarios sound all too familiar. The mosquito scenario happened to me at HOME somemore. But that was in the past, and we have since solved the prob after lodging a complaint with our town council. We could catch 20 mozzies per day, and we even collected the mozzie carcasses as evidence as well. Argh chill down my back again.
Anyway, hope u had more fun than jus bedbugs and mossies! Actually lounging ard was quite fun for us in Batam, there were twice we had to stay indoors due to the rain, and I quite enjoy spending time at the residence lounge, playing pool, sipping my nice-looking drink, watching some game, and just lazing ard. A holiday is for u to laze ard mah, haha...
That's quite sad - that u couldn't do even half the things u set out to do in your itinerary. But I guess what u do there isn't impt, what's most impt is who u do them with - rite? Thks for sharing your experience, I know now where NOT to go the next time I want to go for a beach holiday!
wat u cld do abt bed bugs is not to sleep on the bed. think sy chose to sleep on the blanket instead of the bedsheets in bkk. so she was not so affected by bed bugs after tt..thr cld be other alternatives too like mat or couch..
fio: It could be because of the swelting hot weather that prompted so many mosquitoes to breed and come out. Probably on a cool day it would be more suitable to go there. When I went to Taiwan in summer, there were also ALOT of mosquitoes flying ard at Sun Moon Lake. The locals told me they only appear in summer.
Loveflower: which resort did u stay in? Better warn us not to go to this bed-bug and mossies infested resort nx time!
Resort = Langkasuka Beach Resort
Actually the resort is quite nice, esp since it come with a private beach... so you can bum at the beach minus the crowd...
argh, i didnt know the bites were caused by bed bugs on the first night, cos we thought the culprites were the mosquitoes... so the best way to hide from mosquitoes is to hide inside the blanket right?? =( hahaha
Tips from zhong on what to apply to stop the itching from bed bugs' bites!...
Quote "...you can get some topical steroid cream like hydrocortisone (which should be available over the counter) or betamethasone (Celestone) which you would probably need a prescription for. The pharmacist or doctor should be able to tell you how to apply it (sparingly, which means still glistening on the skin but without any whiteness).
You can also take some antihistamines for the itch. The new ones like Claratyne (loratadine), Telfast (terfenadine) or some other similar drugs (fexofenadine et cetera, and of course you can get generics for less) are non-drowsy..." End Quote
aniwae, i have posted the photos taken for langkawi trip in the gmail =) you can take a look at these boring photos if you have nothing to do, hahaha...
