Sony Cybershot DSC-HX9V
16x optical zoom / 24mm wide angle Sony G lens -- I can now zoom in on distant objects and fit everyone in the group photo (...without breaking my back). Nice!
16.2 megapixels Exmor R CMOS Sensor -- this sensor is twice as sensitive to light as a conventional sensor, which means I don’t need to use a flash, even in low light.
Intelligent Sweep Panorama -- Camera automatically combines the images to create panoramic photos when you press a button and sweep your camera across (re: previously, you will need to align the frames to create such photos). Ah, so convenient!
Background defocus -- Crisp foreground subject against a smoothly blurred background... something that i cant achieve consistently using my DSLR camera, haha...
Full HD video -- Time to create home videos!
GPS and compass -- Automatically geotags images and video clips where you can retrace your travels with on-line maps. Hmm, dont think I will use this feature much =)plus... a Sony S Frame -- a digital photo frame. I'm sure this will be a beautiful and technically advanced way to showcase all my memories!!
Cost: SGD 599.00
(inclusive of camera, extra battery, 16G memory card, camera case + strap, mini tripod, screen protector (which is way too small... i gotta buy a new one!), s frame)
UPDATE! Wow, i love the Sweep Panorama function =) Really easy to take the below photos... hmm, but it's not really 360 degree sweep, more like 270 degree sweep... will have to figure out how this can be done though...

The specs sound quite good!!.. Think you will enjoy having the sweep pano. envious... Look forward to checking out the pictures from your camera..=)
I read that video capture on cameras are capped at a shorter time frame, so that they are not classified as a video recorder and incur more tax. eg. my LX3 is capped at only 13mins for each HD clip. You can take a few videos and stitch them together though.
tested the Sweep Panorama function for my new camera =) the photos are really cool!! hahaha...
rem to check out the photo that i have included in the blog entry
