Whatever will be will be...

pondering what i should be doing for my career... hmm... *deep in thoughts & put on the thinking hats now*... white... red... black... yellow... green... blue...

PS: if you dont know what i am talking, google for keyword '6 thinking hats' and do your own reading =)
PPS: quick, thank me for sharing something that is very useful... hahaha.. management level stuff k...

A role in which i THINK i'll like to do....

What is a Financial Analyst?
+ A financial analyst researches macroeconomic and microeconomic conditions along with company fundamentals to make business, sector and industry recommendations.
+ They also often recommend a course of action, such as to buy or sell a company's stock based upon its overall current and predicted strength.
+ An analyst must be aware of current developments in the field in which he or she specializes as well as in preparing financial models to predict future economic conditions for any number of variables.

Types of Analyst Positions
1. 'Buy-Side' investment firms : research stocks for an in-house fund
2. 'Sell-Side' investment firms : write research reports for buy-side firms
3. Investment banks : determine whether certain deals are feasible based on the fundamentals of the companies involved in a deal (e.g. IPO, mergers and acquisitions.)

What to Expect on the Job
1. Gather information on the macroeconomy as well as information about specific companies and the fundamental microeconomics of their balance sheets
2. Do a lot of reading to stay on top of financial news
3. Significant amount of travel
4. Proficient with spreadsheets, relational databases and statistical and graphics packages
5. Develop detailed presentations and financial reports that include forecasting, cost benefit analysis, trending and results analysis

BUT as you all should know, i do not read and follow the news, am bad with data collection, bad at accounting stuff, bad with the nitty details, etc.... sigh!!

A role in which i FEEL i'll like to do....

What is a Project Management?
+ Application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project activities to meet project requirements
+ A project is a carefully defined set of activities that use resources (money, people, materials, energy, space, communications, etc.) to meet the pre-defined objectives.

Top 10 Qualities of a Good Project Manager
1. Having a vision of where to go and the ability to articulate it
2. Good Communicator : ability to communicate with people at all levels, to effectively negotiate and use persuasion when necessary to ensure the success of the team and project
3. Integrity : "walks the talk" and in the process earns trust
4. Enthusiasm
5. Empathy
6. Competence : knows what he or she is doing
7. Ability to delegate tasks : demonstrate trust in others through your actions
8. Cool under pressure : take problems in stride
9. Team-building skills : holds team together in common purpose toward the right objective
10. Problem solving skills

hmm... i am not a good communicator & am bad at delegating tasks (cos i believe ppl would confirm do not do a good job)... guess need to accumulate more experience bah... sigh again!!

Roles/Areas in which i MAY CONSIDER trying....

Flight attendant (to travel around the world for free)... tour guide (get to meet ppl and visit new places)... magician (to entertain ppl and to do tricks that seems impossible)... hospitality/hotel/casino management (with IR and what not in the future... why not?? hahaha... )... consultancy... set up own business (but i dont know what...)...

sigh sigh sigh!!

When I was just a little girl,
I asked my mother, "What will I be?
Will I be pretty? Will I be rich?"
Here's what she said to me:
"Que sera, sera, whatever will be, will be;
The future's not ours to see.
Que sera, sera, what will be, will be."

Korea photos

Enjoy the below 3 slideshows (total of 150 photos) for our korea trip from the 17th-30th Sept 2007... =)

Day 1: Singapore . Seoul

Day 2: Seoul . Jeju . Mysterious Road (bus with brakes off and can roll uphill & water flowing uphill instead of down... cool!) . Bunjae Park (garden specializing in bonsai cultivation & traditional Dolhareubangs (god of both dignified and humorous)... fun to take photos...) . Yongduam Rock (unusual lava formation like a dragon flying from the sea... i dont think so lah, looks more like dragon crawling inland or something, hahaha)

Day 3: Sunrise Peak (easternmost tip of Jeju island, this area is the first to great each day's new sun... we got there like 9am or so lor, just a bloody sunny day, cant open our eyes lah) . 'All In' filming site . Tangerine Orchard (bright fake oranges on the trees for tourists like us to take photos with as this is not the correct month to see ripen oranges) . Seongeup Folk Village (to see how the ppl used to live... site of Da Chang Jing as well. hard sell session of their products like honey, lingzhi and dunno what... hahaha) . Sanbanggulsa Buddhist Temple (huge chamber with an enormous portal containing a huge Buddha statue) . Yangmeori Coast (super windy place) . Hamel Museum (a ship museum beside the coast... was closed when we were there.)

Day 4: Jeju . Seoul . Everland (great place to take photos... really enjoyed myself there... i went for relaxing rides, unlike emi... hahaha) . Mt Sorak Resort

Day 5: Mt Sorak Natioal Park (great place for hiking i supposed... love the mountains and stream... we soaked our feet in the cold water, quite refreshing) . Kwon Kum Seong Castle (took a cable car to the top... rocky place and all.. but the view was great!! worth all the efforts to climb up and down the steep slopes while hanging to our dear lives as the wind was very strong) . Sinheungsa Temple (bronze status well over 10m high, sited on a granite terrace) . Daepo Harbour (port with numerous shops selling raw fish and seafood products) . Aquaworld (we tried Dr Fish... where a LOT of tiny fishes come and nibble at your feet. supposed to eat away the dead skins and etc.. very interesting/weird feeling... hahaha... but we have our doubts abt the eat-away-dead-skins-ability... hahaha)

Day 6: Yangju MBC 'Daejanggeum' theme park (another great place to take photos... had a great time wearing the costumes and posing for shoots.. haha) . Concert at World Cup Stadium (kind of boring cos we didnt know the singers... and it's rainy and cold and etc... lucky tour grp ppl wanted to go off early for dinner and back to hotel... hahaha)

Day 7: Seoul City Tour (bus was caught in horrible jams most of the time then for us to enjoy the city tour lor... learnt a useful skill: falling asleep on bus the moment i sit down.. hahaha..) . Blue House (presidential residence with blue tiles and smooth roof blend beautifully with Mt Bugaksah behind) . Deoksugung (meaning 'palace of virtuous longevity. heard ppl commenting that China has more beautiful buildings and etc.. hahaha.. perhaps) . Myeongdong (our fav shopping place... hahaha...)

Day 8: wasted the whole morning as we did the on-tour-package-and-no-choice-shopping for ginseng, amethyst, dongchonghacho and korean food (we didnt get anything as everything was expensive lah.. haha..) . check in to hostel

Day 9: Public holz in Korea . Free entry to Gyeongbokgung Palace (oldest palace of the Joseon Dynasty) . National Folk Museum of Korea . Seoul Plaza (CBD/City Hall area) . Mid-autumn concert (great concert, very entertaining.. experience the koreans' way of life bah.. hahaha)

Day 10: Lotte world (fun place too!!... emi took 2 very exciting rides.. hahahaha.. as usual, i did the kiddy stuff...) . Folk Mueseum (i'm impressed by the exhibitions and etc.. very interesting place to learn more abt their history and way of life...)

Day 11: Sleep in day . Covered shopping areas like Doosa Tower, Migliore, AM/PM, Dongdaemum Fashion Town, Namdaemum etc . Rainy day . Bag turned into mini swimming pool whereby everything was soaked and etc, argghhhh . Most stalls at the night mkts were closed

Day 12: Ewah Womans Uni's Fashion Street (great shopping area too... love the 1,000won store.. hahaha). E-mart (to do supermarket shopping like getting seaweeds, tidbits, food items, etc)

Day 13: Unhyeongung Palace (where we witnessed a traditional korean wedding... cool!!) . Insadong (art galleries, traditional craft stores and etc.. arty place) . Itaewon (where you all find all the angmos here, seriously...) . Myeongdong (last min shopping again.. and to spend our last bit of Won... hahaha)

Day 14: Dragged our very heavy luggages down staircases and walked 15mins to the nearest bus stop to catch the airport bus... super tiring lei... hahaha... Home sweet home

Let's do the boogie!

Hey everyone! Referring to my past comment, next fri is still on for some boogie. It's 12 Oct 07. But i need some suggestions to a great dance place. From my minimal Friday experience, zouk sucks, st james's powerhouse sucks, mos's main room sucks, little pubs playing nice live music but have no dance space sucks, bars having free flow alcohol but pathetic dance space and boring ppl sucks, etc. haha.

Suggestions and attendance please!

wat's the occasion u ask? it's just my way of proving that i can still club in my mid 20s. haha. break out the dancing shoes!
