- Southern Ridge Walk
A 9-kilometre chain of green, open spaces spanning the rolling hills of Mount Faber Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park and Kent Ridge Park before ending at West Coast Park. Will definitely want to see the Henderson Wave in the evening and with all its lights... Not sure how much of the trail we can cover, but we should see... hahaha...
- Dinner will depend on where we get off... most likely it's at west coast/clementi area =P
2. 26 July 2008
- Afternoon, LilliPut indoor mini golf at Playground @ Big Splash
A thematic indoor mini golf course that simultaneously offers interactive entertainment and showcases mini landmarks of Singapore- all in air-conditioned comfort... Sound fun!! costs 18$ for a game...
- Dinner TBA... lotsa choices to choose from: Seafood International Market and Restaurant, The Vista Bistro, Starbucks, KFC, Indian Times, 1 TwentySix, Mingles, Old Town White Coffee, Seafood Man, Sushi Tei and Carl’s Jr. Let me know which restaurant you prefer yah... i vote for 1 TwentySix, but i know it's super expensive, hahaha.... we have to check out the menus before deciding then...
August 2008
3. Bottle Tree Park at Yishun
Wow, there's paintball shooting game at Yishun! any takers?? hahaha... i would like to see the bottle tree and check out the vegetable farm/wine shop... we can do prawn fishing for those interested in giving it a try...
4. Zovb and E!HUB @ Downtown East
Hmm, zovb in New Zealand will be more fun?? hahaha... can give it a try but i must see the venue of the event first.. and since we are at pasir ris area, lets go E!Hub... didnt even know it exists till i watched tv program... hahaha... me is mountain turtle!

haha. i cant remember the 5th one too! was it fireworks? did we count that in? hahah. we seriously need some gingko biloba.
Henderson wave is the first bridge from Mt Faber. So you got to decide when you want to set off. It roughly takes 2hrs+ to cover everything. So normally by the time you reach the other end, it is already dark.
I didn't manage to catch the Hort Park in daylight on the two occasions that I was there. So if I will prob fast forward to Hort Park and meet u all from there, if i am joining..=P
anw there is a free dance workshop conducted by Jitterbugs (Jazz/Lindyhop) on the next two sats at sentosa during the intermission of "Jazz by the beach".
we planned klunch then to harbour front to start the walk. i read that most folks w/o cars would end their walk before hort park.
ooh, lindy hop. fond memories~~~ *spaces out for a little reminiscing*
anw was chking out chalets rates last nite..think Hometeam sembawang, Hometeam chalets seem cheap..though i duno wat is thr...

anyone keen, let me know!!
i have the safra card...was chking out the nsrcc chalets too...it is fully booked till sept... abit pricy at 200$ per night...but there are alot of facilities..and a bungalow wif 4 rooms? 2 stories...
aloha is pricy too..hrd long ago tt civil service got disc. cldn't find any disc rate on their website.. hrd saf holiday chalets are cheap..but i cannot find their website too..
St John's island chalets is cheap as well. There are also some barebone/no-frills chalets around, eg sentosa aircon hut and hometeam, rugged hut. But dun think you are looking for those.
anw, since trying the "swerve"/"rocking" board last sat, which was incredible fun, i found another new toy. it is the freeline skates. You can roll around on two pieces of square boards. It debuted last year and is quite popular overseas. Also, there is smthg called the inline skis too. It makes skiing much easier to control.. u can find clips on youtube for all. Feel like getting a new toy to play wif liao..:>
http://www.safra.sg/facilities.aspx?pageid=62
seems the next available slot if 10Oct onwards. There are 2 rooms under safra.
Anw safra has 50% for star cruise, 1 night cruise. Wonder how much tt would cost.
anw there is a night skate on 27th july as well, in the west. Advanced beginners, from choa chu kang to jurong east.

Wow so many things to look forward to. I am interested in the ktv, Lilliput golf, Zovb, and chalet! As for the Southern Ridge walk, I think I would fast forward to Hort Park as well like Dan. See you all at the Hort Park. :p U all try to at least walk up to Hort Park to meet us k?
Haha AH, the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) is right next to ur office, so convenient rite? :p Will let u know again whether I'm free this Fri.
I want to go Beatnik Picnic too. 25th July Friday 10pm at Zouk. So who else is interested?
Dan, I don't spot any free dance workshop on the Jitterbugs website. Can show the link?
Looking forward to the activities, especially CHALET!!!!!!!!!!
the dance workshop details are at http://www.sentosa.com.sg/events_promotions/events/event_details.asp?id=184 think it is a short workshop..
anw chk out http://www.safyc.org.sg/resort.html ..safra has 15% disc for their non-member rates..
anw was thinking of organising badminton...interested?..
precisely!! hahaha.. that's why i know that there's an exhibition at SAM and it's free admission... let me know whether you are free on friday yah... else i just disappear home to sleep or something.. haha... =)
Hey AH, ok i can join u tmr for SAM. I'll try to cook up some excuse to leave early for ur office.
Also, tmr there's also a Night Festival at National Museum at 9pm (free entry). AH u interested rite? Who else is interested? Now got me, AH and Dan. The Night Festival is a series of dances with flying dancers in the air, floating pianos, ships and 'planets'. Not sure what they're talking abt but it sounds interesting. Seems like they are the same organisers as for the Beatnik Picnic (but both are diff activities).
Link as below:
http://www.nationalmuseum.sg/
Who else is interested let us know. My colleagues might be interested as well.
Btw, dan, organise badminton! Let us know the details hor. :p
And I saw the link to the Lindyhop dance workshop already. Actually it starts at 6pm every Sat in July, so it's possible to go for it next Sat 26th July after the Lilliput golf. Haha.
Wah my weekends are packed! So shiok.
okie, cool... i will call them and sign up for the curatour at 7.30pm.. i will go for the night festival at national museum after all as well
aniwae, tml will be shifting office... so may not be in plaza in the evening.. sms me dinner venue yah =P
floating pianos??!! dun think i wan to be under them...haha..
not sure wat is a gd venue for badminton...haf to research...cos most of the ppl are living all over spore. and there are lesser venues in the central area..
clementi? thruout school life i've always heard bout ppl playing there. who knows, we might meet mr zhou and his colleague (w/o a 's').
=P

wa so gd ar...i have nv gone to night safari b4...if thr are extra tix...i wld like to join too.
seems we can take photos tog at hort park after all. saw ur pics at the first half of southern ridges. quite nice. actualli i nv did get a chance to walk tt part in the day time. anw the scenery at canopy walk at night is quite special. there is this staircase area which is often used in channel 8 dramas. wonder whr it is, cos I didn't get to pass tt area.
anw i may be gg to try the HSBC tree top heritage walk at bukit timah and stargazing thru the telescope at science centre when i get the chance. if anyone is interested. can go tog..
i had always dreamt of completing a full marathon. but nv got to doing it. pity i will be taking my cfa this dec. so it is not a suitable yr for mi to take up the challenge.
die die...no time to study..comtemplating camping at ntu Can A..my fav place to study..but no beds thr..sigh..maybe i shd invest in a sleeping bag..
as for badminton venues. think there are some CCs in the central area. else clementi may suitable. hafn't booked nor checked out yet..
lastly, chk this out for ndp ecoupons.. http://www.ndp.org.sg/downloads/ecoupons/ecoupons.php
Hey,
Sorry have been MIA for quite a while... read from the blog that there're quite a fair bit of activities (past and) planned.
Btw, I'll be going to Batam this weekend so won't be able to join for this weekend's activities. Any recommendations on the activities I can do there?
Hua, count me in for the Nite Safari if you still have tics.
As for the chalet, you all can check out the chalets that you're interested in and I'll check the civil service rates. E.g. Fairypoint 1/2 - $65/nite. Quite worth lah.
for night safari, i can bring in 8 ppl... to my best knowledge, ppl who have indicated interest are: me, sel, daniel, alex, beekuan, shujuan (maybe)... another 2 more tixs, so let me know yah =P
okie daniel, i want to go for the hsbc tree top walk and science center! jio me... and you organise! hahaha... it's been a long time since i last went science centre, hahaha..
well, you still have another 4mths to study, should be enough time bah... must 'drag' alex out to accompany you to study!!
and bk, can you just book the nearest date where a chalet is available?? the locations are all in pasir ris, so it doesnt matter which one we go... i suspect that the next available one that you can book may be in oct liao, so better act quickly!!
not very sure what you can do at batam too; perhaps spa or sea sports bah... may cost you a tidy sum of money though, since you are kind of trapped there without much choice of activities.
i want to go to the observatory too~!
as for night safari, include me only if there is space left. in a span of 1 year, dun think they'll change much, so dun wanna deprive others of a chance to go for free.
rem to eat at bongo burger and watch the dinner performance!
bongo burger snds interesting..
anw i just came back from st james-dragonfly. went thr to chill out wif a colleague. FREE entry for all before 9pm. I played $2 pool, almost sang ktv at mono lounge (just nid to buy a drink) but ended up not. so we chilled out at dragonfly listening to the DJ's mixes (he is not bad) and watching the performances by the band singers and dancers. it was happy hour till 9, so drinks were cheaper too. bottom line is if anyone wans to relax on a wkdae...can come down to st james..
on a different note, safra just sent mi a new card. seems it is a worthwhile club to join. it almost feels like they are throwing $$ at mi by organising many exclusive events at low rates..will let u all know if there is any interesting events..
I'm back! Mr Irish sends his regards too.
Rather overwhelmed by e blog--so many activities! faint~ Am interested in e badminton, nite museum & treetop thingy--am I too late to indicate interest now?
Btw Hua, u'd have high chances of meeting mr zhou & colleague at Clementi, cuz I met them there once! think I told u & emi b4..
oops, think you missed out the night museum events, was held over the past 2 weekends... hahaha...
mr daniel is supposed to organise badminton.. so wait for him to update us lor...
tree top walk not yet... will be going for that soon... and there's the remaining southern ridge walk from hort park to canopy walk that we have yet to complete... will fix a date and let you all know shortly =P
Did some research the past few daes on badminton venues. There are many around. But normally you need to book them fast. The 2nd number refers to peak bookings. The next one to two weeks are already packed, esp for CCs.
I plan to try to book a sunday 2pm-4pm slot at any of the locations. So do voice out if you have any preferences. Interestingly, Jurong West Sports Hall is always vacant..but tts like super far for myself..
clementi cc $3.5/4 per hr
henderson cc $3/3 per hr
jalan besar cc $5/5 per hr
kampong glam cc $7/8 per 2 hrs
tanjong pagar cc $4/6 per hr
clementi sports hall $3.50/7.40 per hr
i vote for clementi as yesterday's city beat showed this restaurant at clementi st 12, Grill-out that looks fab. dessert and main course all look impressive.
and since we enjoyed ourselves much in lilliputt, which was a recommendation from city beat, we should check this out too! =)
yeah, i watched the program last night too... Place looks nice for chilling out, foods looks good and yummy too, not sure about the prices though... I can get my fren to join us and he can charm you all with his travel tales, haha.
I second the notion for Clementi. guess I missed out quite abit on that lilliputt place. =(
Daniel could bring ur table tennis bats, and we could play a spot of amateur table tennis after badmintion...hahah
Hua can bring ur charming fren too- wahahha
fio.. hrd from my fren in stanchart tt they nid "Internal Auditor" ppl..and they fly ard quite often. u can search for agencies tt can link u in if u are interested.
i chked the clementi Sports hall schedule. There is a vacant spot next Sun. But I am thinking of planning the outing on the sunday 17/9 after national day. seems far eh. anw 11th aug is a hol for mi...woohoo~~ too bad i didn't plan any short trips..:S
I have abt 3 table tennis bats. its not easy to find a chance to play table tennis nowadays..
might be gg down to bedok resv on sat afternoon. cos of dad's company family run..
those who are interested can hang out thr too..there is a long smooth trail tt is gd to blade on.. there is a hill w a gd unobstructed 160deg view of the sunset.. water sports etc.. and u can also try moving place to place thru the park connectors...
anw sy mentioned this place the other day.. http://www.forestadventure.com.sg/pages/experience_grand.html
Not interested in doing internal audit, but thanks anyway, Dan. If there're available financial analyst positions, pls let me know. Thanks!
Emm..typically, u'd need to book badminton courts 2 weeks in advance for weekends. Always gd to take a short break every now and then. Doesn't have to be a getaway. Stay home to nuah is also a blissful thing to do. =)
I'm also missing playing tennis too. Am I the only one? Hua, dun waste ur tennis lessons!
tot the role tt aihua mentioned was a financial analyst?..anw tt term is too generic for mi...dun reallie noe wat they do..try efinancial lor...
yesh, i miss tennis games... hahaha.. so i'll be going with sel for company's sponsored tennis session for staff which is held on every wed....
oh, the role that my team is looking for is like a product controller doing project works... you keen? let me know, cos we are still looking for the candidate =P
aihua mentioned she is gg for the investment fair on 17th.
want to do badminton at clementi on sun 10th aug? 2pm - 4pm? seems thr is a slot. let mi know if u interested and if u prefer other timings..indicate..
we can do a 2nd session on 17th aug too..=P discuss after the first session...
I am in for badminton on the 10th Aug. :p
Dan u can try applying for AH's team, then we 3 can be in the same coy! (That is if I haven't left the coy wahhaha).
yesh, as discussed last night, i am keen to go for the invest fair 2008 at suntec... see below link:
http://www.investfair.com.sg/seminars.html
for badminton at clementi this coming sunday, i am ok with it... but i have no racket lei, someone has to lend me one.. hahaha...
btw, sel.. i think you mean fiona to apply for my role and NOT dan right?? hahahaha....
went safra yishun todae wif sel, alex and alex's fren...simply shiok..
(my first time clearing the wall...yay)
outsiders pay abt 15$ to 20$..can try telling them u are a student to get better rate. anw we did a few rnds of the 15m wall. then spent sm time in the air-conditioned bouldering gym..quite a cosy place to try out the diff grips and prac..
Nope I meant Dan. It was a misunderstanding. Ignore my last msg.
hey which days do u plan to go for the invest fair? i take it the invest fair is a free event. will do a pre-registration, should be free? do we nid to register for the seminar?
