KL trip photos & misc

loveflower : as promised, below is the slideshow for the photos for our KL trip from 9th - 12th August 2007 =P

Itinerary in brief (errhh.. perhaps not that brief lah...):

09/08 1700h: Boarded coach at Golden Mile Complex. Start of journey to KL. As journey is a bit boring, we spent the initial part of the journey chatting with each other, got off coach for immigration clearance, rested, listened to MP3, played cards in darkness and with help of light emitting from emi’s hp.

Dinner was at this ulu rest stop along the way. To emi’s horror, we ‘bumped’ into someone who she really didn’t wish to see for the whole of her life (I spot one. Hahaha..) Basically we were trying to hide our faces while monitoring his whereabouts lah. And Andrew ordered a ‘spicy’ burger which he could not eat and had to order a plate of chicken rice (or was it duck rice?) and the taste wasn’t any better. Hahahaha

09/08 2230h: Arrived at the bus station, took a cab to hotel (super expensive lah, RM20 each cab, got ‘chop’ by the Indian drivers) and check in. Tune hotel only provides the bare minimum… double bed (which the gals could squeeze in quite comfortably while the guys were a bit the squash), en-suite bathroom and air-conditioning (additional RM to be paid). Only source of entertainment is my MP4.

10/08 Morning: Visit to Petronas Twin Towers, KLCC. Woke up like 0600h, left hotel at 0630h and reached place at 0700h to queue up for the passes to the skybridge. Played cards while waiting. Luckily we were there early enough cos the queue become quite long by 0730h. So we queued and got the 10am slot to visit the skybridge. Went to look for food and had doughnuts for breakfast. Yummy.

10/08 Afternoon: Visit to Time Squares. Had a great and fun 2.5hrs at the indoor theme park and all its rides, esp the bumper car station. Walked around the mall, nothing much to buy. Then walked over to Sg Wang Plaza, also nothing much to buy even though there’s lotsa shops to see.

10/08 Night: Dinner at Overseas Restaurant. Staff missed out an order and we waited for our food for the longest time. So in between the wait, Andrew was stuffing himself with plain rice. Hahahaha…. By the time we finished our dinner, it’s pretty late and most shops were closed. So… we went around to search for alcoholic drinks to buy back to room to drink/play game, gave up in the end as we really cannot find any, decided to try our luck at hotel lounges instead and settled down at Jazz Bar at JW Marriot Hotel. Lovely music and great ambience, it’s a great place to sit down and chill out. Ordered a few desserts which we did not finish and had to play the number game to clear the food.

11/08 Morning: Initial plan was to play go-kart at Sepang, but the in-charge person was uncontactable (he must be eating snake somewhere) and so we changed plan. Backup plan was to go to Batu Caves, but since we were home late the night before and everyone was in a i-don’t-want-to-climb-stairs mood, we slept till 10am plus and made our way around 11am. Walked down to Chow Kit area for lunch. Passed by the red-light distinct whereby Kelvin and Andrew provided us with… errhhh… ‘too much information’… hahahha.. super funnie.

11/08 Afternoon: Visit to One Utama Shopping Centre. Nothing much to buy either. Had a late lunch and met up with shujuan’s 2 colleagues. Interesting guys. Proceeded to Chinatown, walked through and look look. It’s really a walk through the 2 rows of stalls lor, cos didn’t touch the stuff on display (cos it’s too crowded) and didn’t ask the price (cos if you ask, they would hound you till you buy the item)… hahahaha… Went to the nearby Central Market for the arts & crafts stuff, quite interesting.

11/08 Night: Back to Time Square again. Went to KTV there. Quite fun lah. There’s food and 3hours of singing, but the room was super cold lor. Left for home and played taboo game in the guys’ room. Hahahaha.. Very fun game!! Didn’t know that Kelvin has high xxx-drive… I was so sleepy that I mistook ‘spirit’ for ‘sprite’… Aniwae, Andrew, Kelvin and Emi were good at the game =P next time cannot put these 3 together, else the other team would lose.

12/08: Pack up, had breakfast, did last min shopping at Time Square, caught coach back to SG. Home sweet home. Think I was a bit the blur that day. Thought I left my passport in andrew’s bag when I had already put it in my own bag… Weird. Really really cannot recall when I put back my stuff back to my own bag… =<

All in all, i have a fun and relaxing time for this KL trip... though i would prefer to do more touristy things like visiting more sights, museums, mosques, etc... but i come to realise that KL is actually not the right/correct place to be a tourist... cos there's nothing much else to sightsee in the city itself.. hahahah... would have to go to the other ulu places instead... aniwae, thanks guys!! learnt interesting stuff (e.g. do-not-force-me-to-hit-you move, kel has high xxx-drive, andrew's fingers are really inflexible, daniel's fingers are really flexible, etc etc....) and got to know you all better =P looking forward to future holiday trip with you all... if any.. hahaha.. but the next time round, someone else has to organise k...

Sel's Taiwan trip 22nd jul to 30th Jul 2007

As promised, my Taiwan trip stuff!

I absolutely adore Taiwan food!

(Pics below censored for online anonymity cos I posted them on a forum as well and now lazy to edit back to original pic)

Errr I just got lazy of uploading all my food pics since there are endless types of food there. So I'll stop my food pics here. Maybe I'll upload SOME pics next time. Anyway my favs were the pao pao bing (blended ice), Shilin Mkt hao da da ji pa (giant chicken chop), Danshui Street Ah Gei (beancurd with dongfen mee inside and nice sauce) and extremely tall icecream, Taipei Zhongshan street Hai Ye mianxian, and Raohe Mkt fried mushrooms! Still got alot other nice food but let's stop here.

Next up would be my sightseeing! Will upload pics next time! :p

As a prelude, I went free and easy to:

1) Taipei main city (ximending, shilin, wufenpu, CKS memorial hall, SunYatSen mem hall, Taipei 101, National Taiwan University, Raohe Nite Mkt, blah blah blah)

Taipei is @#$^*%* HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 38deg? Hmm. Wld sweat within 10 secs of walking out of hotel.

2) Northern Taipei: Yeh Liu (damn picturesque), Keelong Nite mkt, Beitou, Danshui, Fisherman's wharf, Yang Ming Shan (super over-rated, DO NOT climb Seven Stars Peak like what we did).

3) Eastern Taiwan: Taroko Gorge (hired a taxi tour guide there), Hualien

4) Central Taiwan: Alishan (love it there!), Sun Moon Lake, Chiayi (stopover)

Most memorable was watching galaxies and constellations at 3:50am at one of the peaks on Alishan, and then watching the sunrise at 5:20am on the peak of Yushan.

Best place to take pics: Yeh Liu with the cute weirdo sand formations. We had fun trying to spot the sand formations that were mentioned on the brochures. But again, IT WAS @#$%^&* HOT!!!

Most romantic place: Fisherman's Wharf and Danshui. Nice cool breeze, romantic lights from the boats, watching the roadside artists drawing away, MANY beautiful dogs walking along with their owners (Fisherman's Wharf residents own the most dogs?), and best of all, the extremely tall icecream which I absolutely love cos of the green tea flavour, and the famous Ah Ge dish there.

Most horrible place: Sun Moon Lake. Don't go in the summer cos as usual, it is fa*king hot and there's lots of GIANT mosquitoes there! Even in the aircon restaurant where we ate, there's a lot of giant mossies flying around. We were so scared that we ran straight for the bus back to Taipei the moment we ate finish our dinner. And SML is NOT beautiful. The brochures are misleading.

Silliest decision during the trip: Climbing Yang Ming Shan's Seven Stars Peak. We should have stuck to the usual tourist route and just gone to lengshuikeng, xiaoyoukeng and the usual. Instead, we ventured on a 不θ‡ͺι‡εŠ› climb up Seven Stars peak. It was torturous cos with our moderately fast pace, we still took quite long to reach the peak and back down again. The narrow rock stairs were steep and slippery and unstable. We were walking DAMN fast downhill cos we were so scared it wld be nitefall by the time we climb down. And we ended up with 4 days of extreme muscle pain. Reli extreme. Can scream when walking down flights of stairs. And imagine that was our 1st day of trip, so we had to endure 4 days of touring in muscle pain.

Hmm maybe those who didn't go to Taiwan won't know wat I'm talking abt in this post, but those who went Taiwan b4 might be able to relate to wat I'm saying.

Ok, enough of the banter. More scenic pics next time. :)

Muacks,
Sel
